«Pick Three»

I think we can all agree that most Icebreakers tend to be boring and/or a bit over the top. Luckily, our icebreaker is neither! It’s simple and surprising while also being effective.

25 Minutes

5-15 participants

How it works:

  1. Have participants pick 2 cards at random.
  2. Have participants introduce themselves one at a time.
  3. They should start with their name (seems obvious but wanted to be thorough).
  4. They should then use the sayings on the cards to talk about themselves and how the mottos may (or may not) apply to them.

Tips, tricks & more:

  • How long the activity will run is based on how many participants there are.
  • Plan for about 1 Minute per card per participant.
  • With less than 5 participants, you can use 3 cards and dive a bit deeper in the same amount of time.
  • With more than 15 participants, you can either dedicate more time, use only 1 card (although not recommended) or have them introduce themselves in small groups.
  • This is also a great way to start getting used to divergent thinking through prompts (in this case the sayings on the cards)
