«Pick Three»
I think we can all agree that most icebreakers tend to be boring and/or a bit over the top. Luckily, our icebreaker is neither! It’s simple and surprising while also being effective.
How it works
- Have participants pick three cards at random.
- Have participants introduce themselves one at a time.
- They should start with their name (seems obvious but wanted to be thorough).
- They should then use the sayings on the cards to talk about themselves and how the mottos may (or may not) apply to them.
Tips, tricks & more
- How long the activity will run is based on how many participants there are.
- Plan for about one minute per card per participant.
- With less than five participants, you can use three cards and dive a bit deeper in the same amount of time.
- With more than 15 participants, you can either dedicate more time, use only one card (although not recommended) or have them introduce themselves in small groups.
- This is also a great way to start getting used to divergent thinking through prompts (in this case the sayings on the cards).
